Create and Manage Automations in the Web Portal

Contact Support

Path: Sidebar → Automations → Create Automation

An automation watches device readings in the selected asset. When a trigger is met (and any extra conditions hold), it sends an app push notification or runs a device action, such as a sound and light alarm.

View Automations

Path: Sidebar → Automations

The list shows each automation's Name, Status, and number of Events (actions). The counter at the top right shows how many of the 20 automations allowed per asset are in use.

  • Use the switch in the Status column to enable or disable an automation.
  • A yellow warning icon next to a name means a device or recipient in that automation is no longer in the asset. Edit the automation to replace it.
  • Click a row to open the automation, then Edit or Delete it.

Create an Automation

Path: Sidebar → Automations → Create Automation

Create Automation is greyed out when the asset already has 20 automations or when you have read-only access.

  1. Enter a Name (up to 120 characters). Leave Enabled on to start the automation as soon as it is saved.
  2. Under When (any of these), set at least one trigger: choose a device, a property, an operator, and a value. Click Add trigger for more; the automation runs when any trigger is met.
  3. Optional: under Only if, click Add condition (optional) to require extra conditions. Choose All match or Any match. Conditions also support within range and outside range.
  4. Under Then, add at least one action:
    • Send app push: choose Recipients (asset members, listed by account email), then enter a Title and Body. This sends an app push notification only, not email or SMS.
    • Device action: choose a device and an Action, such as Sound & light alarm, Light alarm, Stop alarm, or Dismiss alarm. The actions offered depend on the device model.
  5. Optional: under On recovery, keep or edit the actions that run when the condition clears. This section appears when a Then action starts a device alarm, and it is pre-filled with Stop alarm.
  6. Optional: turn on Set active hours, then choose the days and the start and end time. Times use the asset time zone shown on the page. When off, the automation is active all day.
  7. Click Create Automation.

Each of When, Only if, Then, and On recovery accepts up to 5 rows.

Trigger Properties and Values

Property typeOperatorsValue
Temperature, Humidity (and second-probe channels), Batterygreater than, ≥, less than, ≤, equals, not equalsA number. The page shows the device's valid range; temperature uses the asset's °C or °F unit.
Water leak, Water level, Door, Frozen, Alarm statusequals, not equalsChoose a state from the list.

The properties offered depend on the device model. Devices or properties that cannot be used are shown greyed out.

Ignore Brief Spikes

Expand Advanced under a trigger and set Alert delay (s) from 0 to 3600. The condition must hold for that long before the automation runs. 0 runs it as soon as the condition is met.

Review Execution History

Path: Sidebar → Automations → automation row

The detail page shows the rule in Readable form, or switch to JSON to view and copy the raw definition. The Execution history card lists each run with Status, Triggered at, Recovered at, and Actions run.

While a condition keeps holding, the automation does not run again. The same session stays open until the condition recovers, and a new session starts only when the condition clears and is met again.

Edit in JSON

On the edit form, switch Edit mode from Structured to JSON to edit the whole rule as JSON. An automation that uses structures the form cannot show opens in JSON mode only.
