My Sensor Setup Failed. What Should I Do?¶
Recommended Setup Method (App v1.4.0+):
The easiest way to add a sensor is to tap [+] in the top right corner of the App home page and select Scan. Point your camera at the QR code on the sensor. The App will automatically identify the device and guide you through the appropriate setup flow.
1. Understand Your Setup Flow¶
Depending on your sensor model and version, the App uses one of two setup methods:
A. Direct Binding (No Phone Bluetooth Required)¶
- Applies to: LW1, LD1, LB1, newer versions of LS1 and LS2, and supported scan-only LoRa sensors.
- Process: After scanning the QR code, the App immediately initiates the binding process.
- Key Note: These sensors do not require a Bluetooth connection between your phone and the sensor during setup.
- LS1 / LS2 New Version: QR code scanning is the only supported entry for adding or re-adding the sensor. New-version LS1/LS2 Sensors do not include a Bluetooth chip and do not support press-and-hold button operations for setup mode or factory reset.
B. Bluetooth Setup¶
- Applies to: ST/MS/SW series sensors and legacy LS series sensors with Bluetooth hardware.
- Process: The App scans for the sensor over Bluetooth and guides you through the setup flow.
- Key Note: Keep the sensor close to your phone and make sure Bluetooth and Location permissions are enabled for the MOCREO Smart App.
2. What if the QR Code cannot be scanned?¶
If the QR code is damaged or your camera cannot focus on it, use the guidance below:
For New-Version LS1 / LS2¶
New-version LS1/LS2 Sensors are scan-only devices. If the QR code is damaged, missing, or cannot be identified, please contact MOCREO support with your proof of purchase and a photo of the device label.
For Older LS1 / LS2 Sensors¶
Older LS1/LS2 Sensors may still route to the legacy setup flow after you scan the QR code. This is expected for older hardware versions. If the QR code on an older unit cannot be scanned, use the legacy setup path only if the App presents it; otherwise, please contact MOCREO support.
For Other Scan-Only Models (LW1, LD1, LB1, etc.)¶
If the QR code on these "Scan-only" models is damaged and cannot be identified, please contact MOCREO support with your proof of purchase and a photo of the device label for further assistance.
3. Troubleshooting Bluetooth Detection Issues¶
If you are setting up a sensor from category B and the App cannot find it, please check the following:
Confirm Setup Mode Status¶
Ensure the sensor is actively in Setup Mode. Look for a brief continuous blue LED flash (except ST8). If not flashing, trigger it manually:
- ST5 / ST6 / ST9 / ST10 / SW2:
Open the rubber cover → Press the button inside the pinhole for 1s → The blue LED will flash. - ST8:
Flip the side switch from the OFF to the ON position. - MS1 / legacy LS series (Bluetooth versions): Press and hold the Setup button for 3 seconds.
Proximity & Connectivity¶
- Keep it Close: Place the sensor as close to your mobile device as possible during setup.
- External Probes: For sensors that require an external probe (like ST5, ST9, ST10, MS1, LS2), ensure the probe is firmly inserted into the main body before starting the setup.
Phone Settings¶
- Ensure the MOCREO Smart App has Bluetooth and Location permissions enabled in your phone's system settings.
4. General Setup Tips¶
- Hub First: If you intend to monitor your sensors remotely, ensure you have successfully completed the Hub Setup before adding sensors.
- Scan vs. Manual: For ST/MS/SW series, if scanning the QR code fails, you can still select your sensor model manually from the [+] > Add Device list to enter the same Bluetooth setup flow. Scan-only LoRa models must be added by scanning the QR code.
